Bingen Centennial

We are so excited to get the word out about the upcoming festivities coming at you in celebration of Bingen Washington’s hundredth birthday!!

The City of Bingen was named after Bingen-on-the-Rhine, Germany, due to the similarities between the two towns, and incorporated on April 18, 1924. Here, The Columbia River can be accessed through the Port of Klickitat at Bingen Point and is a gateway for a myriad of water sports, mountain biking, skiing, horseback riding, as well as hunting and fishing.

The photo exhibit at the White Salmon Library during the month of February, sponsored by The Gorge Heritage Museum, began the countdown to the Centennial celebration for the town of Bingen. Showcased at the Sprint Baker Gallery, “50 photos in 100 years of Bingen on the Columbia” was the perfect start to the forthcoming festivities. If you haven’t stopped by yet, it’s worth a visit. The last day to see the photo display will be Thursday, February 28.

The events slated for the remainder of the year include the “Bingen Birthday Bash” on Saturday, April 13th, followed by the Bingen Olympics at Daubenspeck Park in July–also at the Park will be family-friendly Outdoor Movie Nights taking place every Friday during the month of August.

The much anticipated annual Huckleberry Festival takes place the weekend of September 6th through 8th and you won’t want to miss it! Festivities include live music, plenty of good food and drinks, lots of vendors and best of all, huckleberry pies!!
As the seasons change, the month of October has in store an Arts and Crafts Fair at the Gorge Heritage Museum and trick-or-treating in downtown, while December brings a “Light the Town” contest.

The full schedule of events can be accessed for any and all updates on the bingenwashington.org website.
