On the main stretch of road that winds through downtown Bingen, sits Daubenspeck Park, maintained by the City of Bingen Public Works Department. While this community park is available for scheduled special events on a first come, first served basis, it is open to the public at all times.

In 2023, Daubenspeck Park underwent a transformation that now includes a brand new play structure for small children, a merry-go-round and new swings. There is an accessible swing, a parent and baby swing and also a disk swing. For the larger play structure, outdated or nonfunctional components have also been replaced. Additionally, four new picnic tables and six benches have been added to the grounds for your enjoyment!

Funding for the park’s improvements came from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). Based on community feedback, Bingen’s elected officials prioritized outdoor recreational improvements at the park as a meaningful use of ARPA funds.

Skate Park

In addition to the play structures, this park is also home to a 6,000 square foot Skate Park– the culmination of a process that has been in the works since 2009 when the design phase on the first half of the skate park began. The first phase of the park’s construction launched in September of 2010 and wrapped up later that year, while the second phase kicked off in September of 2013’s cold, wet weather, which held up the landscaping process. It officially wrapped up by the end of April, 2014.

The skate park is perfect for kids throughout the area to test and improve their boarding and just hang with friends!  Built with grants and backing from the City of Bingen and many sponsors and supporters, it is a testament to the broad support and encouragement for an active outdoor lifestyle for our kids.
The Skate Park is open everyday at 6:30 am and closes Monday through Thursday at 8:30 pm and stays open until 10:00 pm on Friday through Sunday.

In addition to the creative use of this area for children and young adults, Daubenspeck Park is home to Bingen’s annual Huckleberry Festival, AKA “Huck Fest”! The event is held annually on the first weekend of September and is filled with fun for the whole family! There will be live entertainment, plenty to eat and drink and loads of huckleberries in every form! This event is a Gorge favorite and not to be missed!

As part of the city of Bingen’s Centennial celebrations this year–Bingen turned 100 years old in April–the park will also host family-friendly outdoor movie nights, every Friday evening in August!
